1h 45min  |  Drama, Biography  |  Release Date: 14.05.2010

Audrey Tautou gratiously performs Coco Chanel in this film nominated for “Oscar” for the costumes. This is the story of the rise of the fashion icon and the love triangle that changed the life of a common cabaret dancer for ever.

Coco Chanel, one of these most iconic fashion designers of all time is something of a complex character with layers upon layers of depth, pain, and a truly heartbreaking story. And, here it goes - the drama of her life that attracted more than 5 million viewers to the cinemas of France. Gabrielle Chanel who was mostly called Coco had been striving to be loved and to remain independent.

The orphanage of the beginning of the 20th century. A girl named Gabriele lives there and dreams for her father to come and take her out - if just for a day. Her unhappy childhood made her stronger and helped her to trust herself to achieve success.

She works without stopping: singing in cabaret by nights, despite her only listeners are drunk soldiers, and sewing by days. Her life changes dramatically when she met wealthy yet rotten Etienne Balsan who becomes her lover and sponsor. Thorned between comfortable life with Balsan and wild passion to Arthur Capel, she continues living her life differently and striving for independance.

Coco revolutionized the image of woman by creating minimalistic personal style and created the impire that still bears her name. But before she became Chanel, she was...Coco.
