Corporate salesman Steve Butler (Damon) arrives in a rural town with his sales partner, Sue Thomason (McDormand). With the town having been hit hard by the economic decline of recent years, the two outsiders see the local citizens as likely to accept their company's offer, for drilling rights to their properties, as much-needed relief. What seems like an easy job for the duo becomes complicated by the objection of a respected schoolteacher (Holbrook) with support from a grassroots campaign led by another man (Krasinski) who counters Steve both personally and professionally.

The young Annabel and Enoch seem to have something in common, showing up at one funeral after another. It turns out that Annabel harbours a poignant secret and Enoch is followed by a ghost friend, a Japanese kamikaze pilot from WWII. Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland, 2010) and Henry Hopper, son of the legendary actor and director, star in a quirky indie romance-drama ostensibly ticking all the right boxes of the traditional boy-meets-girl story, only lacking “they lived happily ever after” promise at the end.

“Paris, je t'aime” is about the plurality of cinema in one mythic location: Paris, the City of Love. Twenty filmmakers have five minutes each; the audience must weave a single narrative out of twenty moments. The 18 moments are fused by transitional interstitial sequences and also via the introduction and epilogue. Each transition begins with the last shot of the previous film and ends with the first shot of the following film, extending the enchantment and the emotion of the previous segment, preparing the audience for a surprise, and providing a cohesive atmosphere.
