Having fixed his "95 theses" on the Vittenberg cathedral gates Luther cast doubt on reputation on the Catholic church, and was announced heretic. Having been expelled he translated the Holy writ into the German language to give people direct access to the word of God. Whereas Luther's followers began a real war with the Catholic church.
