2009/10 season
Live performance opera transmissions from the legendary New-York Metropolitan Opera in the cinema Parex Plaza.
The next season of live performance opera transmissions from the New-York Metropolitan Opera begins October 2009. Also in this season opera transmissions will allow the spectators to eyewitness nine highest-class opera productions of one of the most famous opera theatres of the world in direct transmissions of excellent technical quality at a moderate price.
Latvian opera connoisseurs will be particularly captivated by two productions in which they will see and hear our artists. “Turandot” will be conducted by Andris Nelsons, while in “Carmen” we will enjoy the wonderful singing of Elina Garancha. As she put it: “Knowing that productions in which I take part are transmitted world-wide makes my heart beat faster! But during a live transmission a singer had better not think about it!”
The composer Arturs Mascats also praises Latvian artists’ working together with top-level classical music stars: “These are outstanding performers and conductors, many artists are top-level classical music stars. The participation of our artists in these productions is extremely gratifying: nothing at the moment can boost our identity as much as our famous artists.”
The director of Latvian Radio 3 “Classics” Gunda Vaivode has discovered one more interesting fact related to Latvia: “In the new season we are particularly looking forward to the conductor Andris Nelson’s debut and to the return of the mezzo-soprano Elina Garancha. But do you happen to know that Hamlet’s – Simon Keenlyside’s grand-grandfather was also from Riga? The only remaining question is: to be or not to be among the lucky people who will enjoy this new cultural phenomenon – live opera transmissions in the cinema?”
…and these are only some surprises to be expected in the next season of live opera transmissions!
See you at the cinema! |
